The fifth J.Laverack Owner’s Ride took place on a mild, overcast November morning, as owners travelled from across the country—some from as far as Cornwall—to J.Laverack HQ, nestled in the peaceful suburbs of Oakham.
Upon arrival, guests were greeted by the J.Laverack team with warm drinks, courtesy of Drover Coffee, and a spread of pastries. Riders made final adjustments to their bikes while mingling, sharing stories of how they discovered the J.Laverack brand and the models they had chosen. Many admired custom builds from past years, possibly sparking ideas for their own next ride.
Departing from J.Laverack HQ, the route led westward towards Cold Overton, where the day’s first gradual climb awaited. Although averaging just over 2%, the incline stretched over 3 kilometres—an early wake-up call for the legs.
From Cold Overton, the route veered south, winding through the scenic Leicestershire villages of Knossington, Owston, and Tugby. The undulating terrain offered plenty of short, steep climbs, giving riders the chance to stretch their legs. Thanks to the group’s supportive, no-drop policy, everyone could regroup at the top of each climb, ensuring no one was left behind.

The route then continued southeast to the picturesque village of Hallaton, a local favourite known for its challenging hills. Just a few miles later, the group circled around Eyebrook Reservoir before tackling a steep ascent up to Stoke Dry, eventually winding towards the coffee stop at Rutland Nursery on the banks of Rutland Water.
At Rutland Nursery, riders refuelled with coffee, bacon rolls (and vegan options!) and flapjacks, chatting about the ride so far and what lay ahead. Re-energised, the group set off back towards Oakham, tracing the rolling hills along the edge of Rutland Water. The terrain towards Braunston-in-Rutland presented a final test for the legs—a route largely free of any extended flat sections, something that riders from outside the area certainly noticed and commented on.
In the last stretch back to J.Laverack HQ, those with a bit of energy left enjoyed one last chance to push through the rolling roads.
Back at HQ, post-ride coffee and pastries were enjoyed en masse, courtesy of the J.Laverack team. Riders washed down their bikes, which bore the day’s road grime from lanes and trails, and shared experiences from the ride. Gradually, guests headed off for their journeys home, some with a long road ahead, and ample time to reflect on a memorable day in the saddle.
