WE had just finished developing our new integrated threaded bottom bracket shell design when we were approached by Marek Reichman, the Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin. Marek has been responsible for shaping some of the world’s most beautiful cars, including the Aston Martin Vulcan, DBS Superleggera, Valkyrie and the upcoming DBX, Aston’s first SUV. Marek discovered our bikes through a colleague and was so impressed that he decided to commission his own bespoke J.Laverack bicycle, made to his exact measurements.
The J.Laverack team travelled to Aston Martin Lagonda HQ to talk through our range and the options available to Marek.
While there, Marek was very interested in our new bottom bracket design and our design concept for a new head tube.
He asked if we could achieve this Streamline approach on his bike, concealing all the cables as much as possible, kickstarting our efforts to make ’Streamline’ a reality.
After a series of design revisions, Marek’s beautiful bespoke build was ready, so we headed back to Gaydon to hand over the bike.
As on our existing frames, 6Al-4V titanium was chosen for both the new head tube and bottom bracket designs, as this highest grade titanium offers an incredible strength to weight ratio. This increased strength and stiffness are perfect in these performance-critical areas of a bike frame.
